Robert Browning has always been criticized for the ambiguity of his poetic style. 'Christmas Eve' is another example of his carelessness in linguistics. His poetic style of exploiting the language is viewed to be a poet's attempt to enrich the reader's comprehension of his work. The description of the young girl in Browning's poem depicts a knightly representation, and his choice of words provided a deeper interpretation of such representation. Browning's linguistic approach may be obscure, but it is the complexity of the poetry that sets it apart from other works.
