Shirley MacLaine will star as matriarch Amelia Thomas in Canuck telepic "Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning," which will air on commercial web CTV next year.

The movie is a prequel to the original miniseries based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's novels, with a script by helmer-exec producer Kevin Sullivan, for his Sullivan Entertainment.

Hannah Endicott-Douglas stars as the young Anne Shirley, Barbara Hershey as the grown-up Anne Shirley.
