Recently, while re-reading Anne of Windy Poplars I came across the incident of the burial of the pumpkin preserves. This reminded me of a similar happening in my own family.
This episode took place in May 1938. My greatgrandmother went to visit her relatives in a neighbouring community for a few days. While there she became very ill with the flu, developed pneumonia and died shortly after.
