It may be the birthplace of modern Canada, but Prince Edward Island, and Charlottetown, its capital, is better known for a charming, pigtailed redhead by the name of Anne.

Anne Shirley, better known as the spunky orphan adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert in Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic "Anne of Green Gables," has gained a dedicated and loyal following around the world -- the Japanese willingly pay thousands of dollars to visit the home of Anne.
