Disney Offers `Green Gables' Sequel

Last year, the delightful "Anne of Green Gables" entranced viewers of PBS' "WonderWorks" and snared the Emmy as the season's best children's series. At the time, its impressive lead actress, Megan Follows, was only 15.

This week, The Disney Channel pay-cable TV service finishes airing "Green Gables" on Sunday and begins the continuing story of the spunky, red-haired orphan in "Anne of Avonlea" Tuesday at 8.

Follows, now 18, resumes her role as Anne Shirley in the new four-part series, which blends three of Lucy Maud Montgomery's sequels: Anne of Avonlea (1909), Anne of the Island (1915) ...
