Governor Valentina Matviyenko has saved a park located on the site where
national poet Alexander Pushkin fought a fatal duel from being turned into
a gas station.
The idea of building a Balt Trade gas station between metro stations
Pionerskaya and Chyornaya Rechka appeared more than a year ago. In July
of 2003 the city's investment and tender commission gave Balt Trade a building
permit for the station.
