Dateline: LONDON Academic T.J. Binyon on Monday won Britain's richest non-fiction prize for his biography of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.

Binyon, 63, won the Samuel Johnson Prize, worth 30,000 pounds (US$48, 00) for his book "Pushkin."

"T.J. Binyon's biography of Pushkin is the product of the author's years of dedication to his subject," said Conservative Party lawmaker Michael Portillo _ a member of the five-strong judging panel _ as he announced the result at a ceremony in central London.
