Poetess, there's nothing wrong with liking chocolate, as such.
what kind of chocolate do you usually eat? try dark one (70%-80% cacao). If you don't like it, force yourself to eat it and set up a rule that you are only allowed to eat dark chocolate and no cheap stuff. after a while you will like it. dark chocolate has less sugar, none of the evil evil ingredients of cheap chocolate and way less unhealthy fats then cheap chocolate. Now the good news is: it's got looooooooaaaaaads more of the stuff that makes you feel happy, so two bites have the same effect as a whole bar of cheap chocolate

hehehe :) there I go preaching again :)

Laindessiel
12-25-2006, 12:22 PM
Endorphins. That's what chocolate contains that makes you feel good. Nothin' wrong with having too much of them; nothin' will happen to you. 'Cept maybe diabetes. :p

I can not even imagine a universe in which King Lear is boring. It is as if someone had declared that there is no gravity.;)

I have not read that book about Shakespeare. But i agree with you ghideon, to me Shakespeare exemplifies the human condition as a whole. I did not realize how in the midst of so many human faults there is a vibrant spark of beauty of sincerity. Who else can portray this in such a way as Shakespeare? The content of his plays embody every weakness and imperfection of man, yet he verses them in such a perfect, mellifluous way that we seem to rejoice in and be entertained by our follies.

Shakespearian language - I agree is difficult to comprehend but then what are dictionaries for? :p

I don't like his works because they are never precise and concise. He just wasted time in writing three sentences for showing the love of Romeo for Juliet which he could have done in a single sentence.

In Romeo and Juliet, I just found his writing style focusing too much on dialogues concerning "beauty of the heroine" and "love" (or shall I call it lust) It got really irritating for me to keep on reading the whole thing when he was saying the same thing again and again; of course, the words were different and well choosen, especially the comparison of her with flowers, blah blah blah, but they all meant the same thing which was that to Romeo, Juliet was the prettiest girl that ever existed on earth.

I think that many people like him because he touches the topic "love between a man and a woman" or shall I call it lust? It is something they do like to have a belief in and find it fascinating. Oh well, everyone has a right to have his own believes. But Shakespearian style and his works are just not my cup of tea.

Hiya! I might sound harsh but crying for Shakespearian plays isn't really my thing. Emotions just don't over-come me when reading his stuff. If one wants to read a tear jerker, there is there is always Wuthering Heights or A Bridge to Terabithia or A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Even Harry Potter series can be called a real tear-jerket, well at least I found it so...

Ah, why did Dumbledore has to die? :( '

Hey Jay, what do you reckon about the seventh part by the way? Do you find the title of the book revealing much? :)

Revealing? Haven't read it yet! :D

All those theories I read on a website about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows made me feel that the book was in my hands already. :p

1: Harry goes to Godric Hollows.
2: Harry discovers "Hallows", some sort of creature over there.
3: One of these creatures is a horcrux
4: Harry destroys the horcrux and defeats the Dark Lord

Can't it make up a good fanfiction? :p

erhem, that's an interesting observation. Never thought about it that way.
I love Shakespeare and I love his language, but somehow the deeper meanings often escape me because my brain has to spend so much capacity on decoding the language :)

poor Nighty!
my dad set some buns on fire at a youth hostel in Scotland once. he cooked burgers and wanted to toast the buns in one of those gas grills. before he put them in he joked "Let's set the buns on fire" and that's exactly what happened five mins later ;)

.... I've nearly talked my boyfriend into joining litnet (after his exams). He doesn't like reading, but he wants to brush up his every-day spoken English and I thought chats and forums come closest to real life conversation. So I've been badgering him to do it for a while. I told him he can post in general chat and games and doesn't need to read a book. Last night he almost said yes :)

I think the original sentence used Turnips, but it became parsnips when the PC police decided turnips were to dangerous to be used as an example. :D Afterall, everybody knows parsnips are harmless... right?

It would be called a bad turnip trip and you would be scolded for the effort by turnips everywhere. But not to worry, when the effect of the trip wears off, you will be comforted by the same millions of turnips who feel sorry for you for having had a bad turniptrip, and for not realizing it at first. :)

Yes, it is.

I didn't know that until just now, thanks to my mother. She has the telivision switched on right now, and I can hear this song:

Aurat ko nai pahchan mili hai
Maan mila hai, insaaf mila hai.

Lose translation:

Woman has found a new identity
She has got love/respect and justice.

I wonder why are they playing with us by having this song played all the time on our main telivision channel? Trying to make us believe that it really has happened?

This song has been haunting us:

It's of a gentleman soldier
as sentry he did stand
He saluted a fair maiden
by a waiving of his hand
So then he boldly kissed her
and he passed it off as a joke
He drilled her up in the sentry box
wrapped up in a soldier's cloke

And the drums are going a rap a tap tap
And the fifes they loudly play
Fare you well Polly my dear
I must be going away

All night they tossed and tumbled
till the daylight did appear
The soldier rose, put on his clothes,
saying, Fare you well my dear
For the drums they are a beating
and the fifes they so sweetly play
If it weren't for that Polly my dear
with you I'd gladly stay

And the drums are going a rap a tap tap
And the fifes they loudly play
Fare you well Polly my dear
I must be going away

Now come you gentleman soldier,
won't you marry me?
Oh no my dearest Polly
such things can never be
for I've a wife already
children I have three
Two wives are allowed in the army
but one's too many for me

And the drums are going a rap a tap tap
And the fifes they loudly play
Fare you well Polly my dear
I must be going away

If anyone comes a courting you,
you can treat them to a glass
If anyone comes a courting you,
you can say you're a country lass
You needn't ever tell them,
nor pass it off as a joke
That you got drilled in a sentry box
wrapped up in a soldier's cloke

And the drums are going a rap a tap tap
And the fifes they loudly play
Fare you well Polly my dear
I must be going away

Oh it's come my gentleman soldier,
why didn't you tell me so?
My parents will be angy
when this they come to know
When nine months had been and gone
the poor girl she brought shame
She had a little militia boy
and she didn't know his name

And the drums are going a rap a tap tap
And the fifes they loudly play
Fare you well Polly my dear
I must be going away

You needn't ever tell them,
nor pass it off as a joke
That you got drilled in a sentry box
wrapped up in a soldier's cloke

And the drums are going a rap a tap tap
And the fifes they loudly play
Fare you well Polly my dear
I must be going away

Oh it's come my gentleman soldier,
why didn't you tell me so?
My parents will be angy
when this they come to know
When nine months had been and gone
the poor girl she brought shame
She had a little militia boy
and she didn't know his name

And the drums are going a rap a tap tap
And the fifes they loudly play
Fare you well Polly my dear
I must be going away

Cruel, but seems real. I hope no other Polly would ever have to come across such a situation, and the same drums or any other ones never do their "rap tap tap" in such a way.

Is it just me or is posting help me, help me, help me in different forums and then not consulting those offering help like the 'boy who cried wolf'?

nothing is the matter, someone was posting for help in several differen places, so I responded to those threads, PM'd and still nothing. Kind of frustrating...but oh well
