geeze I sort of feel like a rotten sneaky voyeur reading the exchange between you two darlings. Still, I shall grab some popcorn and a cuppa and contine reading as long as I have a break. Are you there, where did you two go to then?
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 04:08 PM
I'm still somewhere, but it seems Night has run of because some elephants gave chase. Feel free to chip in on the conversation Rachel.
rachel
05-21-2006, 05:23 PM
oh how wierd,I only just pm'd you. I wish I was in the Netherlands, I would take you out to dinner, someplace that looks a lot like Mars but has more variety of food and cows cannot enter and seat themselves at tables and stick their large bubbly tongues out at us.
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 05:26 PM
Ah, but cows are everywhere in the Netherlands, we'd have to issue a restraining order against them! I think they would riot! :)
Dinner sounds good though. :D
rachel
05-21-2006, 05:34 PM
what sort of dinner to you want to have and where should we go. I have sadly never been to your country, but if everyone looks like you and are as intelligent and nice I should have gone there years ago.
Is Netherlands hilly? Or do you, Aimus, only suffer from cyber hills obsession disorder? :p
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 05:41 PM
I wonder, if all people here were like me, i'd probably really be freaked out, because the whole country would be in ruins, all those powerhungry dictators!
I know a few good restaurants, if you want a typical Dutch dinner, I know a place, real traditional, great atmosphere, no cows allowed, they have to stay out in the fields. :)
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 05:43 PM
Say now, I resent that. We have hills in the netherlands, if only a few, That's why I'm so protective about MY HILL! :D
What about you, why are you so obsessed over it, can't have a hill of your own in the Czech republic? :p
The rep is hilly enough, I'm just obsessed with the cyber one ;)... esp if it means fighting over it with power-hungry wannabe kings/queens of the hill when I am the only rightful owner of the hill! *evil laughter with Imperial march playing in the background*
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 06:10 PM
You don't qualify for the Imperial march, you have to be able to breath heavily, I doubt you can pull it off. :p
Besides you are truly delusional when you think that hill belongs to anyone other then me! :D
Breathe heavilly? No problem! If you ask nicely, I could also do a really nasty breath!
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 06:19 PM
That won't be necessary, I'll take you on your word.
So you are a heavy breather eh? How's the mask treating you?
Scheherazade
05-21-2006, 06:29 PM
Jay, you'd better not be the phone stalker who keeps calling my house number!
Aimus, my friend, be careful! With all that elephant poo, her breath must be not only 'noisy' but also smelly!
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 06:31 PM
Indeed, maybe I'll just put on my gas mask, It'll be some heavy breathing, but at least I'll survive! :D
You wish! Will kill you off (the hill :p) soon enough! :p
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 06:40 PM
In your dreams! :) I can't die! well I can, but if I go down, I'll be back soon enough. Then it'll be you who's going to suffer! :p
Talking about suffering... weren't it you who jumped off the hill to end his suffering? :p
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 06:57 PM
And end it I did! Sometimes drastic measures are required to rid the world of vermin, and I am not afraid to take such measures. :p
And I came back! Meaner than ever! :p
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 07:06 PM
You sure did, but I'm afraid it's only a short lived return :D
rachel
05-21-2006, 07:18 PM
wow, what interesting dialogue while I have been gone. No < I think Jay's breath must smell like cinnamon or peppermint actually, she is always on trains so she must take something to chew on.
Aim that restaurant sounds so wonderful, my treat. What is the best dish in your opinion. Oh great , look at that line of cows following us. Can your bike not go faster? I love cows but they have a hungry rather nasty look in their lovely eyes.
And I found this stunningly beautiful street in the Netherlands, please Aim, can we go somewhere pretty like this for dinner?
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 07:24 PM
Say what? Go faster, If I peddle any faster we'll go into hyperspace!
Besides, it is impossible to outrun cows, but not to worry, they'll be stopped from entering. I recommend you try the 'boerenpannenkoek'.
rachel
05-21-2006, 07:29 PM
Aim, go back and look at the picture I just added and please answer my question. thankyou. say what time is it at your house right now?It is only dinner time at mine.
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 07:41 PM
Wherever did you find that picture? The restaurant I was thinking about is actually in a small historical landmark city, far superior to the picture. I don't know what the people in the picture are doing, but it freaks me out. Like they're in a cult or something, with all the lights they carry.
As for the time, I dunno, it's about 01.40 right now.
AimusSage
05-21-2006, 08:13 PM

Hi chef, don't let my breath scare you off ;)

05-21-2006, 10:19 PM
here dear Jay, mints, by the bucket.
HEY CHEF BAMBINA HOW ARE YOU!
AIM, I found that pic on the googly bit. It sort of freaked me out too, but not knowing your country I assumed all of you do this on the weekend!I mean, how was I to know.
hahahahahaa, please forgive me, I wasn't trying to be politically incorrect, there were only four sort of normal pictures to choose from
jaja Jay no wories there is no way your breath can scare me off
HI RACHE I CAN"T EVER BE ON WHEN YOU ARE!?!?!?!
OH!! can't forget my good friend Aimus HEY!!!!!!!!!!
Are you sure? *breathes at chef and feels faintly in the process* :p
no i can hold my breath for a long time, used to swim, so no wories!! besides i don't really care about that if you are my friend (which you are...right?) because i don't like to make them feel bad and i am more into the conversation. Also i have a water or a screan full with liquid blocking the way so i think i am all right jajajaja

AimusSage
05-22-2006, 06:49 AM
Rachel, that's not what we do in the weekend, see the attached file for what we do in the weekend. It's taken at that historical city I mentioned earlier. :p
Mill, garlic? Wherever did you get that idea? my underwater breath isn't anything like that, it's more like rosemary and lavender. :D

No worries rachel, they only hang people that deserve it, and cows ofcourse. :)
ShoutGrace
05-22-2006, 01:23 PM
Cows that deserve it or cows simply by virtue of what they are?
AimusSage
05-22-2006, 01:25 PM
only those that deserve it obviously, no crooked justice here.
ShoutGrace
05-22-2006, 01:31 PM

Poor Rachel probably doesn't like that talk . . .

05-22-2006, 01:33 PM
You've never met the cows from around here have you, they do all sorts of things, including drug trafficing!
ShoutGrace
05-22-2006, 01:38 PM
Is this a local phenomenon? How many cows have you met, and are there any you converse with regularly?? :D
AimusSage
05-22-2006, 01:43 PM
I have met countless cows, as they are quite numerous. Some cows I converse with regularly, but these are of the homo sapiens variant. Very obnoxious. I have not yet mastered the language of the other kind of cows.
ShoutGrace
05-22-2006, 01:50 PM
Um, is this present company excluded? I know quite a few cows who would have posed your previous post as a thinly veiled insult.
I'm sure that this lingual mastery is not be far off . . . Depends on how bad you want to talk to the cows, I guess.
Do cows spit? :D
AimusSage
05-22-2006, 01:57 PM
I have yet to meet obnoxious cows here. Or any other kind of cows for that matter. :)
There is a gargoyle flying about though that can be a bit of a pain, always stealing my hill, but that's actually kinda cute. :p
Cows spit, they are like spitfires, bringing their spit to bear upon unsuspecting pedestrians that are walking their dog.
Mililalil XXIV
05-22-2006, 01:58 PM
Cows only spit when they speak Old Camelonian.
You've got your basic cows, that have no accent - then there follow in their train:
1)Bammashambamanelles, with their Mexi-Cockney trill;
2)Himselluntiruni Hsaps and Hasps, that all make dreadful scroans;
3)Danny Dublin-tailed Spot-whips, with their clipped grogus (in the tenor range);
& 4)too many others, all one of a hybrid!
I dedicate this post as a tribute to the heroes that went before:
Xamonas Chegwe (A.K.A. the X.C.lent, incomparable, mild-manored Teddy Checkers);
AimusSage the succulent of Farsargard, near Newer Torsedina, which was formerly Caulzikak, proud hometown of Kalkanutta the Senior;
and the revamped Happenin' Capitan Stanislaw the Archestra.

Well it's definitely worth it. Overeating on Chinese food is one of the more crazy/daredevilish things I do in my life . . . *sad*.
smilingtearz
05-29-2006, 01:55 AM
why be sad about it!... there has to be something you cherish... everyone does... i mean.. fine.. everyone might not adore orange chicken and overeat.. but you don't have to do everything only the way others like... you love chinese and that's the way it is... tummy can be taken care of... some silly medicine might help!

You're back! How are you today? I am sort of practicing and looking for a name for my fiddle.
Themis
05-30-2006, 04:59 PM
I'm fine, how are you?
Name for a fiddle? Why do you want it to get it a name in the first place?
RJbibliophil
05-30-2006, 05:06 PM
It's a hardangerfiddle(a norwegian instrument) and I am looking for a good norse name for it. I wouldn't name my violin, but my hardangerfiddle's different.
They look something like this:
http://www.touristphoto.no/images/ullensvang/ut%20fele.jpg
http://www.fiolinmakern.com/hardinger/helland_hode_profil.jpg
http://www.westernviking.com/hardingfele.jpg
http://www.usd.edu/smm/Norwegian.jpg
Mine has 8 strings, 4 playing strings and 4 resonating understrings. It's a very light and loud instrument, traditionally played for concerts and dancing.
Very well, a little warmer than need be.
Themis
05-30-2006, 05:14 PM
Try this site, mybe you'll find something. ;)

for that matter, you could also look here: http://www.rettarheimild.is/mannanofn?Stafrof=&Nafn=&Stulkur=on&Samthykkt=yes
I am sort of considering Ylva, which means she-wolf, but I like the sound.
Themis

I love such sites. :) But more for character names in stories than names for instruments.
RJbibliophil
05-30-2006, 05:31 PM
It's an Islandisk site, so I really can't decipher most of it very well, but the names are understandable. :D Not all of them are old norse, but most of them are.
Themis

I admit, except for the names the only word I understood was "janúar" because we have that too, sans the accent.
RJbibliophil
05-30-2006, 06:07 PM
Well, I understand a little more, but the Islanders have been very good at preserving the old norse, whereas the norwegian has changed more, but I understand the "leita" meaning look, for searching, a word here and there, and "forsíða" being frontpage despite the interesting letters. Nonetheless, the Islanders should be commended for preserving their heritage.

Oh yes! The mosquitoes! I had almost forgotten about them. A couple summers ago, I met up with a few people in Minneapolis that I had met on a LOTR forum and they were from Georgia and all they did was complain about the heat and humidity and I kept pointing out, "But you're from Georgia!". They insisted it didn't get that bad down there but I still find that hard to believe.
I lived there for awhile and still go back to visit friends and family as often as I can but I don't live there anymore, I moved back home to ND for a respite, not really intending to stay but things don't always play out the way you planned and I did stay.

Oh, it's the summer there that gets me, the humidity is horrendous. I suppose that's what you get when you have a state with 10,000 lakes. ;)
Minnesota hasn't been too bad lately. Hot in the middle of the day, around 90 some degrees. Was really hot for a streak in May, but now it's good. Just stay inside from about 11 to 3 and keep the windows shut and you'll be fine. Have windows open all night so the house can cool down. ;) Don't venture out expect into the open without bug spray after 7 or so. Hot wind. The farmers have just been haying. The crops are a few inches tall. Summers started.
I live on the "prarie". The cities are too big for me. I like the norwegianess in Minneapolis. And the history. But there's a lot more black and hispanic communities in Minneapolis now. There's lots of people from Somali too.
BTW, there are actually 20,000 lakes here, but that's not the nickname. Did you know that Minnesota has more coastline than Florida and California together?
Idril

Yes, but some of those lakes are about the size of my bathtub. I remember driving to the area around Brainard and being amazed what constitutes a lake there and how little volume there needs to be in order for a body of water to be named. ;) But, coming from a state with about 2 normal sized lakes, I'm in no position to mock anyone. ;)

You're not allowed to leave if you finish early? I am glad I can, I always am the first to finish, and the first to leave, except for the people that turn up and instantly hand it in, they leave after half an hour, which is the minimum time you have to be present.
RJbibliophil
06-05-2006, 04:08 PM
Aren't those the people who don't know the answers, so they don't even try?
AimusSage

That they are, It often amazes me how some people don't even try, even if you haven't studied, it still pays to at least look at the questions, see what you know and don't know :)
Then again, I have a nack for not showing up at all
