Portrait of Sir Walter Scott as child could fetch pounds5,000 after turning up in Austria

A Previously unrecorded portrait of Sir Walter Scott when he was a child has been discovered in Austria and is expected to reach as much as pounds5,000 at auction in London.

The miniature of the celebrated Scots author, painted by artist Richard Collins, will be sold by Bonhams on November 21 and is expected to fetch between pounds3,000 and pounds5,000.

The portrait depicts Scott as a four-year-old child, wearing a pale-green coat, double-breasted white waistcoat over a frilled chemise and a black hat decorated with a ribbon bow.
