THERE WILL be cash but not from any old attic. A sale of family possessions from the magnificent home of Sir Walter Scott will be held next month to raise money for the roof of his beloved Borders home.
The trustees who now run Abbotsford, the stately home which the great novelist built on the banks of the Tweed near Melrose, have scoured every attic and cellar of the extensive 19th-century mansion for valuable objects that could help them save the building.
