A PIG-SKIN bound law book in Latin presented by Sir Walter Scott to his best friend has been handed by an anonymous donor into a charity book sale in Edinburgh.
The 400-year-old copy of Examen Juridicum, by Bernhardus Scotanus, is one of many rare and valuable books found at the Christian Aid sale.
The book is signed by Sir Walter's long-time friend, William Clerk. The pair became close during their daily walk to Edinburgh University where they both studied Civil Law in the 1790s.
