CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 26, 1996--Cypros Pharmaceutical Corp. (NASDAQ:CYPR) Friday announced that Virgil Thompson, 56, has been elected to its board of directors, replacing Dr. Lewis Sarett who has retired from the board after three years of service.

Thompson spent the majority of his career at Syntex Corp. where he rose to the position of president of Syntex Laboratories. At Syntex he was responsible for a $1.2 billion portfolio of products.
