Apr. 5--Virgil is a small town with a big election April 17. The outcome could determine to a large extent Virgil's future, including when, where and how Kana County's smallest municipality might grow. The races for mayor and three village trustees are rooted in a philosophical clash over growth issues. Until April 2005, elections in Virgil -- a placid, rural hamlet of about 100 homes in west-central Kane County -- were rarely contested.
