Saturday, Booker T. Washington National Monument will celebrate its 50th anniversary, as well as the 150th birthday of its namesake.

The daylong festivities kick off with a rededication of the park at 11 a.m. with special guests, including Donald Murphy, deputy director of the National Park Service, and U.S. Congressman Virgil Goode. At noon, park officials will unveil a 50th anniversary cachet and serve cake in honor of Washington's birthday.
