United Way Community Services' Bluelight in the Basement Old School Rent
Party, on Sept. 24, brought together more than 100 of Metro Detroit's most
prominent African Americans and others to raise awareness for the Virgil H.
Carr Society, which benefits programs and services supported by United Way.

The special event took place at the Gordy mansion on the city's west side,
now owned by Cynthia Reaves and her brother, Kenneth. The affair featured
the styles and music from the 60s and 70s Motown era. Special guest
