The Irish Voice was fortunate to snag an interview recently with director
Ben Barnes, who was in New Haven to open Dublin's Abbey Theatre Company's
production of J.M. Synge's classic comedy The Playboy of the Western World.

New York audiences can catch the show, October 26-31, at NYU's Skirball
Center.

There have been many productions of Playboy, of course. However, Barnes
explained, "Although we have a classic Irish repertory going back to
O'Casey and Synge, we're determined that our work doesn't look like museum
