The latest violent incursions into the Gaza Strip have brought a new wave of introspection on the raison d'etre of Israel's occupation and its cynical method of warfare, which exploits humanitarian and infrustructural channels as fiercely as it uses missiles and bombs. But from the perspective of a Bethlehem-based sustainable development organization, these actions are reminiscent of another perversity that weighs on Palestinians and is perhaps of no less relevance: doublethink.
