THREE MEN IN A BOAT (BBC2, 9pm)

SINCE it was first published in 1889, Jerome K Jerome's book has been re-enacted numerous times in all manner of mediums.

In 1975, Michael Palin and Tim Curry appeared in a memorable TV movie, later Mike Read, Noel Edmonds and Paul Gambaccini used the book as inspiration for their own Radio 1 show, and in the past couple of years Rodney Bewes has delivered a fine stage version.

Now it's the turn of Rory McGrath, Griff Rhys-Jones and Dara O'Briain to play the lead roles in an offbeat version of the tale.
