If superfans were around in Jerome K Jerome's day, Rodney Bewes would be first in the queue with his autograph book.

Rapidly approaching the age of 70, he crackles with electricity when the author's name is mentioned.

And you can forget all that Three Men in a Boat stuff. Jerome's most-popular book is indeed what lit the spark on Rodney's fuse but this new show, he says, is about the good stuff.

The actor is embarking on a 50-date tour telling what he deems to be Jerome's best years when the author spent three years as a struggling actor.
