THE idea for doing Three Men In A Boat as a one-man show came in Henley ten years ago. The Kenton Theatre had had work done to add seats and wanted something special for the reopening.

They asked me if I could do a show.

Jerome K. Jerome's story of a journey up the Thames, through Henley - one of my favourite books - was perfect. If I were going to do a one-man show this would be it.

I did it as a 90-minute reading, with little specially-made spectacles sitting on the end of my nose.
