Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K Jerome. Although written at the turn of the 20th century, it has a very contemporary tone. It still makes me laugh out loud.

Has there ever been a book you couldn't finish?

Joseph Heller's Catch-22. I pick it up every now and then and never finish it. It's very funny, but extremely dense.

Have any books changed your life?

The House of God by Samuel Shem, a novel about a junior doctor in America which takes the lid off the idea of medicine being a vocation. ...
