Packing away books unwraps old feelings and memories

The names poured out of my bookcase, all printed on the spines of the books I was packing away.

My floors were being cleaned, and I had to get all the books out of my very heavy bookcase so I could move it.

I had no idea that moving the books would be as physically difficult - just ask my knees - or as mentally invigorating as it proved to be.

Boxes of books are heavy. Carrying them up stairs is hard. My 45- year-old body rebels.

But looking at all those books, holding them and flipping through some of them brought the young ...
