A love letter written by James Joyce to his lover Nora Barnacle is to be auctioned at Sotherby's, London.
The letter was found in a collection of personal items linked to the author which were inherited by his brother Stanislaus. The letter written on 1 December 1909 has never been seen in public before and scholars assumed it had been destroyed.
Sotheby's expect the letter to fetch up to GBP60,000 when it goes under auction with the rest of the collection in July 2004. Other items to go under the hammer include the ...
