A sale of approximately 3,000 books held in Dorset, UK, including works written by Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy and Anthony Trollope, has raised GBP100,000.

According to auctioneer Garry Batt, an edition of Hardy's The Trumpet Major sold for GBP3,600, while a rare first edition of Hardy's Under The Greenwood Tree sold for GBP550.

In addition a Charles Dickens business card, advertising his services as a shorthand writer of 10 Norfolk Street, Fitzroy Square, was sold for GBP1,800, the BBC reported.
