MARSHFIELD - Residents can pick up copies of "Madame Bovary" for the Ventress Memorial Library book discussion in January.

The 19th century French novel will be discussed from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Jan. 15 in the library's Historical Room.

The book, written by Gustave Flaubert and considered scandalous in its time, is now recognized as a seminal work of literary Realism.

Residents can sign up in advance to reserve a seat, or just come to listen. The program is free. New members are welcome.
