Movie Review: MADAME BOVARY
Gustave Flaubert's acclaimed novel is adapted for the screen with precision but lacking in dramatic energy. The 1949 Vincente Minnelli version did the job with more appeal and style. Isabelle Huppert looks lovely as the restless doctor's wife who engages in disastrous extra-marital affairs. But this intriguing character comes off as stiff and uninvolving.
