British writer Jim Crace, who has won widespread critical acclaim as well as the Whitbread Prize and the E.M. Forster Award, will be in Milwaukee this week to read from the paperback of his latest novel, "The Pesthouse." A love story set in a surreal, unstable America, the novel tells of families looking to escape the new world on a ship bound for Europe. On the way, one man finds a sick woman abandoned to die.
