Reggie Lewis was laid to rest yesterday in a burial ground that contains the remains of a well-known playwright, a famous poet, four Massachusetts governors and prominent abolitionists, inventors, dignitaries and Boston businessmen.
Consecrated in 1848, the 275-acre Forest Hills Cemetery in Jamaica Plain contains among its 97,000 graves those of the playwright Eugene O'Neill and the poet e.e. cummings. The author Edward Everett Hale is another literary luminary entombed there.
The Lewis family has bought four gravesites at the cemetery.
