THE Queen's bank, Coutts in the Strand, is providing recorded poetry readings in the first floor lavatories, recited by members of its staff. The passages are by Alfred Lord Tennyson, Alexander Pope and Charles Dickens, who are all distinguished former customers at Coutts. No doubt it is soothing to listen to verse before parting with your money but isn't it all rather intrusive? "It all adds to the client experience," a Coutts spokesman tells me, "providing our customers with talking points and unusual moments."
