Samuel Taylor Coleridge says it best:

"And the Spring comes slowly up this way."

As March marches along, hints of spring fill the Piedmont Triad. The Bradford pear trees burgeon, the flowers bloom, and winter jackets make less frequent appearances as the chill in the air disappears.

And there are kites.

At Washington Terrace Park in High Point Saturday, about 25 people participated in the "City-Wide Kite Flying Contest." Kite fliers ages 3 through 14 took home prizes that included best homemade kite, highest-flying kite, trick-flying kite and other categories.
