NEWPORT NEWS -- After stops at a Tennessee prep school and a Kansas junior college, Booker T. Washington High School graduate Terry Gray has found a basketball home at Christopher Newport University.

A 6-foot-7 sophomore center, Gray has been a key contributor in the Captains' march to tonight's NCAA Division III sectional at their own Freeman Center. Christopher Newport (24-3) plays St. John's (Minn.) at 8 p.m., after William Paterson (N.J.) takes on McMurry (Texas) in the 6 p.m. opener.
