Booker T. Washington III, 79, a retired New York architect who was grandson and namesake of the legendary educator and author, died recently at New York Hospital.
A native of Tuskegee, AL, Washington graduated with a degree in architecture in 1938 from Tuskegee Institute, which his grandfather founded.
During his career, he worked for a number of architectural firms and was involved in the planning and, design of the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, Rockefeller University and the Pan Am Building to name a few.
