Feb. 24--PORTSMOUTH -- Menchville guard Darryl Shazier had done it all.

Hit open shots, raced down the court to ignite the Monarchs' break, penetrated the defense, found the open man and locked up on defense.

Still, after three quarters in their Eastern Region semifinal game against Booker T. Washington, the Monarchs were only up a point.

"I knew we would need more of a cushion headed into that last quarter," Shazier said. "They had all that experience."
