The Louisiana Department of Education issued the following press release:

Mechanical and electrical issues will delay the opening of school at Booker T. Washington High School by several months, the Recovery School District of New Orleans has announced.

The RSD has closed registration for the school at 1201 S. Roman St. and will shift the 31 students who have already registered for Booker T. Washington to their second high school choice.

The school is experiencing significant flooding after rainfalls because there is no electricity in the building to operate its pumps. The flooding has led to ...
