REIDSVILLE -- Booker T. wasn't just another school. Inside its doors, you could find comfort, pride, identity. You could escape the harsh realities of racism.

Future leaders trained here. Traditions were established.

For decades, the red brick Booker T. Washington High School was a tie that bound Reidsville's black community. During the days of Jim Crow segregation, the all-black school was equal parts classroom and community center.
