NORFOLK -- His maroon Booker T. Washington High School football jersey is a few sizes too big, and the No. 65 hangs off Devaughn McCrae's shoulders like a bed sheet.

When he tucks the jersey in, part of the numbers disappear.

Then there's his white helmet, purchased by the school when none of the team's maroon ones was small enough to fit him.

Even McCrae concedes he probably looks like "a scrub."
