Nineteen ninety-five was the year of cinematic period pieces, costume dramas, and adaptations of several novels by Jane Austen. Three such films-Braveheart, Restoration, and Sense and Sensibility-garnered nineteen Oscar nominations; all three were nominated for best costume design.
