David Selwyn's compilation of all Jane Austen's poetry and most of the poems written by other members of the Austen family looks like the traditional "slender book of verse"--appealing in its format to both the hand and eye. The fifty or so short poems--about twenty of them written by Jane Austen herself--included in this well-edited paperback volume will not revolutionize our understanding of her work. But ...
