AROUND 400 B.C., Greek dramatist Aristophanes wrote the comedy "Lysistrata" to protest the Peloponnesian war. Today, the play has re- emerged as a theatrical tool for anti-war protesters.
When the Iraq War began a year ago, "Lysistrata" was staged more than a thousand times in 59 countries as a form of protest. This weekend, Notre Dame de Namur college will join a second wave of performances.
"It is political protest and theater," says "Lysistrata" director Gerard Gorski. "The play has a lot to do with what role, and right, women have to talk about how resources are used
for war."
