In the January issue of Smithsonian magazine, William Severini Kowinski described the art of Robert Davidson, who works on the Semiahmoo Reserve of the Central Coast Salish people, near Vancouver.
Davidson belongs to the third generation of Haida artists who have been reviving the traditional sculpture and paintings of the Northwest - totem poles, ceremonial masks, rattles and drum-skins.
