The Shewing-up of Blanco Posnet

(1909)

This is my favorite Shaw play, one that can be compared to The Devil's Disciple. Taking place in the American West, Blanco is a horse thief and 'shewing up' is showing up, but comeuppance might be a better word. The number of characters is not too large and it makes a good reader's play. As usual, there is religion and irreligion, man and woman, and right and wrong.--Submitted by John Inscho
