William Wordsworth's 'Tintern Abbey' refers to a prayer in lines 121-23 in a tone of desperation, followed by anticlimactic albeit confident words expressing faith. The prayer is contained in lines 119-21, where the poet envisions his reunion with his old self, his sister and with nature. Rather than seeming resignation, lines 123 onward allude to several biblical passages that are affirmations of faith in nature. The poem is Wordsworth's myth of salvation with nature in the role of God.
