The Life Of William Wordsworth

Early Life And Formal Schooling

William Wordsworth was born April 7, 1770 in a small Cumberland village
named Cockermouth, located on the northern edge of the Lake District. He was
the second of five children born to John and Anne Wordsworth. The family
lived in a stately home near that "fairest of all rivers," the Derwent, and
across the River from their home was one of William's favorite places,
Cockermouth Castle, settled into ruins.
