A Street Performance Honors Jules Verne in a Big Way
The French have a soft spot for the writer Jules Verne, author of many imaginary voyages: trips around the world and to its center, under the sea or to the moon. So on the 100th anniversary of his death, the people of Nantes, where Verne was born, staged a Verne-like imaginary voyage through the streets of their city.
The public was alerted that something was about to happen by posted notices:
Petite géante en vacanes, stop, venue voir éléphant du sultan, stop, passera trois jours avec lui, stop.
