`Jules Verne' star made switch from child roles

PASADENA, Calif. It's hard to believe that Chris Demetral was a child performer. He's far too normal. But the actor who plays the title role on the Sci-Fi Channel's "Adventures of Jules Verne" has spent his 24 years trying to be the average guy-next-door.

How normal is he? Well, he admits that he's more passionate about basketball than he is about acting. He spends his spare time coaching at the school where his wife teaches fifth grade.

During a conversation in a Cuban-American restaurant on a warm spring day, he volunteers that his most important job is being a good husband.
