"The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" is comprised of some of the great characters in literary history. Jules Verne's Captain Nemo from "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" meets adventurer Allan Quartermain from H. Rider Haggard's "King Solomon's Mines." They run across Mina Harker_ the wife of Bram Stoker's "Dracula" protagonist Jonathan Harker _ just after she gets a bite from the fabled vampire and she has a torrid affair with Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray who never ages as long as his portrait remains unharmed.
