ONCE A UTOPIA -- 100 years ago, Upton Sinclair launched the Helicon Hall commune in Englewood

The new owners of Helicon Hall are sleeping peacefully.

So far.

Of the terrible fire that swept through the Englewood property in 1907, destroying the era's most notorious "radical" commune, there are few signs.

No ghostly moans of vegetarians in the night. No spectral footprints of anarcho-syndicalists in the flower bed.
