Each year about this time, Ann Toler pulls Mark Twain from the shelves at Chinqua-Penn Plantation.
Toler, director of mansion services, gently runs her vacuum wand over Twain to remove mites that chew his pages. She puts Twain back and pulls down Charles Dickens, then cleans William Makepeace Thackeray and Leo Tolstoy.
