What do the Kennedy Center and Comedy Central have in common?

The annual Mark Twain Prize, which will be handed out for the first time this year at an Oct. 18-20 event. Richard Pryor is the 1998 winner.

Mr. Pryor parlayed his outrageous, insightful and influential stand-up comedy into a film career that made him a top Hollywood star in the 1970s and 1980s.
